Back Extension

The back extension exercise develops the erector spinae muscles in the lower region of the back. These muscles keep your back upright and help protect the spine from injury.

Workout at the Big House Training Center on the Back Extension

How to use:

Lie face down on the bench and place your ankles securely under the footpads. Cross your arms in front of you or place hands behind your head. Bend forward slowly at the waist as far as you can. Keep bending forward until you can no longer keep going without a rounding of the back. Slowly lift your torso back to the a plank position.

Sissy Squat Machine

This exercise is a specialized movement that works the lower thigh area. Because of the angle at this exercise is performed, this movement is done with no weight or moderate weight. The basic muscle groups exercised are the lower back, glutes, hamstrings, front thighs, and calves.

How to use:

Position your feet on top of the foot rests and lay back. Your hands should rest on the handlebars and lay your head and shoulders against the bench. Start the movement by contracting your core, lifting your chest up. Pause at the top, then come back down.
